The second main area of AUDENS ACT expertise is design, analysis, and simulation of air interface and corresponding receiver algorithms for all kind of wireless communication or navigation systems. This includes physical and data link layer aspects, such as

• Modulation and demodulation (data detection)
• Channel coding and decoding
• Channel modelling ((mobile multi-path) fading channels, non-linearities, filter, AWGN, phase noise,..)
• Channel estimation and equalising
• Fade mitigation
• Interference mitigation
• Timing, frequency, and carrier phase acquisition and synchronisation

Performance evaluation is mainly carried out by extensive simulations of appropriate system models. If required, we can perform “close-to-hardware” simulation in order to close the gap between algorithm design and implementation.
We cover special tasks in the field of network, transport and application layer, and specific issues on satellite and ground station hardware relying on the support of our cooperation partners.
