| The positioning performance of an algorithm that has been especially developed for the localisation of mobile phones (one-shot positioning) was analysed for low SNR values and typical mobile fading channels. Existing methods to mitigate the impact of multipath echoes for rectangular chip shaping were shortly recapitulated. Since they did not provide adequate performance for SRC (square-root raised-cosine) chip shaping, new algorithms, especially designed for band-limited signals, have been developed also leading to a patent (European patent no. 1 400 028 B1 issued on 5 October 2005). Their performance has been analysed and compared to the existing algorithms. The performance characteristics of spreading codes which can serve as code design criteria have been summarised. Subsequently, the candidate PN spreading codes were briefly recapitulated and in more general terms, a design approach for the spreading code selection has been suggested. |
